Graveley Cup
Presented 1903
By Commodore W.E. Graveley
For Yachts Under Twenty Feet L.W.L.
This is the first perpetual trophy donated by the clubs first Commodore and prior to the granting of the "Royal" charter to the club.
Mr. Horace Stone, who died in World War I, had won the trophy for three years in succession and according to the protocol he was given permanent possession.
The trophy was passed on to Mr. Peter Maitland around 1946 or '47 by Horace Stone's daughter, Mrs Allen S. Gentles, who was known to her friends as Vicky.
Mr. Maitland had the trophy restored and in 2011 donated the trophy to the R.V.Y.C. on the sole condition that it be prominently displayed in the trophy case where it takes pride of place today at the top of the circular staircase.
